Environment
Energy and Resource Efficiency Management
At all production sites, Kraš uses electricity, gas, water, hot water, and steam. Consumption is continuously monitored and analyzed, and processes are aligned with the international ISO 50001 standard.
Key measures and investments:
- Digital monitoring of energy consumption on all production lines
- Replacement of glass surfaces with energy-efficient panels
- Investments in modern equipment and production lines
- LED lighting in warehouses and production halls has reduced consumption by 40%
- Boiler modernization and installation of new-generation burners have improved efficiency by 6%
- Automated water monitoring at more than 20 measuring points
- Closed water system – condensate return into the process
At Kraš, we recognize water as a valuable resource. Through systematic water management, continuous monitoring, and preventive measures, we create the conditions for long-term sustainability. Responsibility toward water is part of our daily operations and our contribution to the environment in which we operate.

Waste management and circular economy
Kraš systematically protects the environment through responsible waste management and the application of circular economy principles. The goal is to minimize negative environmental impacts, increase resource efficiency, and contribute to a sustainable production and consumption model.
Waste management is carried out in accordance with the applicable legal regulations of the Republic of Croatia and the European Union, as well as the requirements of the ISO 14001 international standard. The environmental management system ensures continuous monitoring, evaluation, and process improvement.
Our circular economy principles:
- Proper sorting and recording of waste
- Use of more than 90% recycled materials while maintaining product quality and safety
- Documented waste management and product life cycle policies as integral parts of the integrated management system
- Continuous evaluation and process improvement
In this way, we reduce waste and contribute to building a sustainable production and consumption system.
Kraš aims to use 100% recyclable packaging materials by 2030.

Wastewater
Kraš systematically protects water as a key natural resource. Wastewater management is carried out in accordance with current regulations, applying all technical and organizational measures to preserve water quality and protect the environment.
Work approach:
- Regular wastewater testing four times a year in cooperation with an accredited laboratory.
- Processes are fully aligned with the requirements of the water management permit, ensuring the preservation of water resources and prevention of negative environmental impacts.
- A Wastewater Management Guideline has been developed and documented, clearly defining procedures, responsibilities, and control points.

Climate change
Kraš recognized climate changes as one of the greatest global challenges of our time. Aware of our responsibility, we are taking concrete steps to understand and manage climate risks and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
A climate risk analysis was carried out considering two scientifically recognized climate development scenarios: RCP 4.5 (moderate) and RCP 8.5 (high emissions). This analysis enabled the assessment of potential physical and transition risks that could affect our raw material supply, production facilities, logistics, and markets.
In accordance with international standards (GHG Protocol), we conducted a complete calculation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across three scopes:
- Scope 1: direct emissions from owned or controlled sources
- Scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased energy
- Scope 3: other indirect emissions from the value chain, related to suppliers and customers
The analysis showed that over 80% of emissions come from Scope 3, meaning outside our direct operations, confirming the importance of cooperation with suppliers and partners across the value chain. We are currently developing a climate transition plan to reduce emissions and adapt our business to climate challenges.
